Turkey is lower at both ends of every range below. The gap is widest on All-on-4, where the top of the Turkish advertised range sits roughly level with the bottom of the Philippine one.

Both destinations sit far below all of that, which is why the choice is between them rather than between one of them and staying home.

Why is Turkey cheaper?

Partly a weaker currency, partly a competitive clinic market that sells implants as packages rather than as line items. Neither of those tells you anything about the surgeon.

Two practical consequences matter more than the reason. First, some Turkish advertised prices are sold as all-inclusive packages with hotel nights and airport transfers folded in, so the headline is not a treatment fee and cannot be compared line-for-line with a Philippine quote that itemises everything. Second, Turkish advertising rarely names the implant system, which is the single detail you most need. Who should choose Turkey

If you are flying from the UK, Ireland or Western Europe, Turkey is the better answer on the numbers we have. It is cheaper on every procedure in the table, and Istanbul is roughly four hours from London against a long-haul journey with a connection to Manila or Cebu.

That combination compounds, because conventional implants need two trips. Two four-hour flights is a manageable amount of disruption. Two long-haul returns from Europe is a different order of commitment, and the patients who quietly never make the second trip are the ones who end up with an unfinished implant, which is worse than no implant at all. If the honest answer is that you will struggle to go back, pick the destination you will actually return to.

Where the Philippine case actually holds

On language, on distance from the Asia-Pacific, and on family. Not on price.

English is a working clinical language. In Philippine dentistry it is not a service laid on for foreign patients: your treatment plan, consent form, invoice and warranty are written in it, and so is the conversation when something needs disputing. That is a real advantage at the only moment it matters, which is the moment things are not going smoothly.

Distance, if you are on the right side of the world. From Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan, Manila and Cebu are a short or medium flight while Turkey is long-haul in both directions. Double that for the two-trip protocol and the Turkish price advantage on a single tooth disappears into airfare and annual leave. The diaspora case. If you are Filipino and flying home anyway, the airfare is already spent. That removes the largest single variable in dental tourism, and it outweighs the price gap in the table for most people it applies to. Two trips, from either country

The protocol is the same in both places. The fixture goes in, then it needs three to six months to fuse with the bone before the final crown is fitted, which means two separate visits. Neither country changes the biology.

What changes is the cost of the return leg. Plan roughly three to five days for the placement trip, covering the consultation, scan, any extraction or bone work, the surgery itself and a review before you fly. The crown-preparation concern

UK dentists and the British Dental Association have publicly warned about patients returning from treatment abroad with healthy natural teeth cut down heavily to take crowns. Reducing a tooth that far cannot be undone and can put the nerve at risk, which is why the profession has raised it.

What to ask, whichever country you choose

The clinic is the variable that decides your outcome. The country mostly decides your airfare.

• Name the implant system in writing. Refuse an unnamed fixture at any price, in either country.
• Ask what the quoted figure includes — fixture only, or fixture plus abutment plus crown. Those are different products at different prices, and not knowing which you are being quoted is the reason cross-border price comparisons collapse.
• Ask who operates — a specialist surgeon or a general dentist.
• Ask how much of any natural tooth will be reduced, and why.
• Get the warranty terms in writing, including who pays for a return flight.
• Check the red flags before you pay any deposit anywhere.
